Christmas love and wishes

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you all have been eating loads of yummy food, got lots of presents and  most importantly: spent quality time with your loved ones.

Here is my favorite christmas movie.

modern traditions

Should anyone reading this ever be visiting Frankfurt and not know where to go for a fun night here is one suggestion: Shooters
It is in Frankfurt's famous (or perhaps notorious is the better word) Alt-Sachsenhausen, a traditional style bar-street with a variety of restaurants and bars, non of which are too expensive.
This is a shot bar that that has just under 200 different shots on offer at 2euro each, which is affordable.
Long drinks and cocktails are not too pricey either.

Whenever we go, we play a game where the person to your left orders your shot and you order the person to your right's shot.
However last time we changed it up a bit since I volunteered as designated driver and could not participate, I was allowed to pick the shots for everyone at the table!

Our friend K (middle) did not appear to enjoy the shot I picked for her too much... Sorry, not sorry.

P.S If you have a friend who is "single-and-ready-to-mingle" I advise to get them the single shot. He/she will then be handcuffed to another single of the opposite sex and they will each be given a glass of champagne to drink while they have a lovely chat. It's always a laugh. Who knows maybe your friend will find his/her true love.
And if you have someone sitting next to you that you don't like my recommendation would be the Monica Lewinski shot. I will not go into detail on this one as it is far to inappropriate to tarnish the innocent contents of my blog with it, you'll just have to trust me on this one.

And here is a catchy tune to get you into the mood for a night out (the video is also worth watching)

creativity is key

Here is some evidence that it is indeed very possible to have a proper christmas meal (English style) without an oven!

All we had to do was buy a precooked chicken from Tesco and simply reheat it in our microwave.
The baked potatoes and veg we boiled and then put them in the microwave at oven setting to make them nice and crisp (admittedly it took about 5 times as long as it would have in the oven, but the wait just made it taste all the better). We defrosted and boiled some frozen peas and broccoli, made some nice gravy and stuffing from a pack and defrosted yorkshire puddings.
And this is the result!

Okay, it was not as good as at home but for some amateur student cooks it was quite the feast.

I need to hear it again and again...

Today I have been having somewhat of a lazy day. I did not leave the house, let alone change out of my pyjamas. But you know what, I am not even sorry. I have been cuddled up in my bed listening to Florian Ostertag and working on my project.
Florian Ostertag playing at Das Bett, Frankfurt am Main. 2012.

Florian Ostertag is a German musician. He makes some very good music, especially if you are feeling lonely, heartbroken or just in the mood to chill and relax.
I was lucky enough to see him live in Frankfurt in March. You know how sometimes when you see your favourite artist live and then it turns out they actually can't sing (#rihanna)? Well with F. Ostertag this was certainly not the case. Also, he does a very good job keeping his fans up-to-date on his facebook page. For a while he even accepted his fans as a friend on his facebook profile, until it reached its maximum capacity. However you can still subscribe to his updates. The efforts he makes to keep his fans updated makes him seem very down-to-earth, which is a quality many other artists do not appear to posses.
All I can really say is I love his music and I really recommend having a listen.
